eye candy or soul food: food for thought

Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'”

What we eat is important for many obvious reasons but, I think it’s the not so obvious reasons that will inspire us to really choose change. It’s easy to focus on the external and get a quick fix for some self-esteem issues. It’s exciting to see outward results and be affirmed by people around us. Maybe if you’re lucky you’ll even find someone who loves the outside so much they want to see what’s inside.  You’d better be looking like an A-list celebrity if you think your outside is going to make up for your brokenness inside. We need to prioritize. Attractiveness and vanity are fleeting; at best those things will last for about ten years. Your soul, on the other hand, will last for eternity. FOREVER. You have to be yourself forever. Whether you believe in eternity or not, it’s real, and even if you don’t the rest of your life will be longer than ten years (hopefully).

The point is this: If you are eating in order to take care of your body that’s not a good enough reason to really change. You have to eat for your mind and your soul too. Sugar, chemicals, overdosing on simple carbs, and being in a constant state of dehydration are terrible for your mind. You can’t sleep right, you are feeding candida and parasites their favorite foods, you are altering your hormones and the chemicals in your brain in a negative way, creating imbalances and disorder in your own body. Food affects so much more than we think about. The Bible says that our bodies are the temples of the HOLY SPIRIT (if you have accepted Christ as your Savior and Lord). That is reason enough for a Christian to clean up. When an important person comes to your house then you clean things even better than you do for yourself. Why then, do we fill the TEMPLE OF GOD with trash? The HOLY SPIRIT is completely GOD and we don’t give HIM nearly the reference and worship HE is WORTHY of. Think on that. If you aren’t a Christian (you can be) but, you can still begin to take steps to take care of yourself and learn truth. If you want to start with your own body, I think that is a great place to start. 🙂

Food is universal. What you choose to eat today will shape your life tomorrow. Our bodies were created for amazing and beautiful lives. Modern technology and culture has negatively influenced not only our bodies but also our hearts and minds, through what is available to eat. For most of us we have the liberty to choose what we eat. Even if we are limited we still have choices. Ultimately, even if you don’t have a choice in a moment, you can decide what you will NOT eat. Yes, sometimes it is better to NOT EAT than to eat something that will harm you.

Food has been a tough thing for me to control in my life. Honestly, food has controlled me more than I have controlled it. But I’m sick of myself! Have you ever been sick and tired of being sick and tired!?

I’ve started my journey of freedom from food and I invite you to go on your own. We can keep each other company 😉 I will share my experiences, failures, victories, and knowledge with you. I want you to be free just as much as I want freedom for myself! There’s plenty to go around. Imagine your body fighting off the germs that seek to slow you down and harm you. Imagine beautiful glowing subtle skin, energy you haven’t felt in years or maybe ever, improved moods and the ability to handle stress better, sleeping throughout the night peacefully and waking up ready for the world. Imagine the extra weight you lug around melting off and revealing strong muscles and stunning bone structure. YOU WERE CREATED WONDERFULLY! Imagine changing your entire life by the way you choose to eat (or not eat).

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO GAIN BY CHANGING THE WAY YOU EAT PERMANENTLY? WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU INSTANTLY HAD THE WILL POWER AND KNOW-HOW TO EAT RIGHT? Take time and consider the value.

It will not be instantaneous like we want. That’s half of the battle right there. We want everything to be easy, feel good, and we want it five minutes ago. That is a broken mentality. A lie. The truth is that nothing good comes easy or instantaneously. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Someone paid for it whether you put that together in your head or not. So let’s agree that the change starts in the mind. Identify some of the things that are standing in the way of you eating to live. Be honest. That’s part of loving yourself. I encourage you to write it down. Start journalling about this issue and any others. You should know yourself better than anyone on this earth. Investing in yourself is intentional and it takes time. If you don’t do it no one else will, because no one else can. You are a grown individual and you are responsible for your own wellbeing. Do your very best. There’s honor and freedom in that.

Integrity is doing the right thing when no one else is looking. Have integrity with your body.

66190e372227bc1ed62b85406c3f34f7You can do this. You need to do this. You’ve been thinking about it for long enough. Your destiny is happy and healthy. Your destination is your journey and it starts right now. Do what you have to do. Let me know if you need anything.

I know you can do it.

Be True to YOU,
